Our Creative Residencies in Africa honor visionary artists whose work resonates with our mission. These residencies are by invitation, designed to support artists in creating and deepening cultural exchange.

Inaugural Artist-in-Residence

Nyame-Kye Kondo

Rose Pan African Education launched its first program, the Global Black Summer Institute, in 2022 with Nyame-Kye Kondo (Meche Korrect) as our inaugural Artist in Residence. Her visionary artistry set the tone for all that followed, shaping Rose Pan African Education’s journey into immersive, transformative creative experiences.

Nyame-Kye is a multi-disciplinary artist whose work spans music, film, writing, jewelry, and community engagement. A graduate of Morgan State University and the Maryland Institute College of Art (MFA in Community Arts), she received the Dr. Leslie King-Hammond Graduate Award for her contributions to socially engaged art.

Her work, featured in initiatives like CLLCTIVLY’s Black Futures, blends African diasporic traditions with contemporary experimentation. As our inaugural resident and an instrumental collaborator in RPA’s expansion, Nyame-Kye helped establish the spirit of expansive creativity, commitment to Black transnational community, and belief in the transformative power of African diasporic knowledge that defines Rose Pan African Education.
